Maybe I Snore A Bit
Wellness Wednesday
Just about everyone snores on occasion! It is the sound of air vibrating the relaxed tissues in your throat.
Nasal congestion, alcohol consumption, naturally narrow airways, being overweight, and sleeping on your back, which causes gravity to reduce the size of your airway, are big contributors. Other than annoying your partner, it is harmless unless you choke or gasp for air while sleeping, wake up feeling unrested and exhausted during the day, and/or have been told you stop breathing at night. These are symptoms of a serious medical condition called sleep apnea, which our hygienists and dentists screen for during your visit.
